Mallappa Annappa Hipparagi
Call Sign: VU2PAL   Handle: 'PAL'
About
Born on the 26th of January 1930, Prof. Hipparagi was a distinctive student at school and later did his MSc in Radio Physics and Electronics. During his school days he was a great sportsman and also an N.C.C Cadet later became the Officer of Air Squadron NCC (Flying Division). He also did his glider training. He was appointed at R.L.Science Institute of K.L.E Soceity, Belgaum as a Lecturer, Sr.Lecturer, Reader, Professor and Principal. He was selected as a Life Member of the K.L.E Society, Belgaum. He retired in 1988 after 36 glorious years of service. He even had the biggest oppurtunity of meeting and speaking to Sir C.V.Raman, Nobel Laurette at the Science Congress held at Belgaum.
Became a Radio Amateur in 1975
After getting his Grade II ticket with call sign VU2MAZ, he later got onto Grade I with call sign VU2PAL and then later became an advanced amateur radio licensee retaining the same call sign VU2PAL in 1989. He and some other hams founded the HAMBEL AMATEUR RADIO CLUB in 1970. Prof. Hipparagi has been the president of the club since then. He started the Hambel Belgaum net in 1988.

He expresses thanks to his XYL Kasturi who has been co-operating and helping him throughout. His harmonics VU2SSP, VU3EYE who are also hams, are now married and well settled.
